Will Wilcox Shoots 1st 59 With A Tour Yellow Ball

Yesterday, Will Wilcox of Birmingham, AL did what few players have ever accomplished in professional golf, shoot a 59 in tournament play. Not only did Wilcox shoot a heralded 59, he became the 1st player in the history of professional golf to do so with a colored golf ball. Wilcox used the new Tour Yellow Z-STAR XV with SpinSkin, which will be available this August.

In the final round of the Web.Com Tour Utah Championship at Willow Creek CC, Wilcox started the day in a tie for 38th at 10 shots off the lead. After completing his round at 12-under par 59, which included 10 birdies and one eagle, he finished as the clubhouse leader. At the end of the day, Will finished in a tie for 3rd, but was the talk of the golf world after becoming only the 4th player in Web.Com Tour history to post a 59.

After the round, Wilcox explained, “This has been such a dream year for me. From my first Web.com Tour victory at the South Georgia Classic to shooting 59 at the Utah Championship, I’ve had several dreams come true this season.”

“When I stood over the putt for 59, I really wasn’t that nervous. I don’t know why, although I think it has to do with the fact I’ve been practicing hard and working hard so it was a situation I had prepared for. Maybe I hadn’t prepared to shoot a 59, but I had prepared to make putts under pressure. Shooting 59 is huge, obviously and it’s something every golfer dreams of.”
